| Growing Herbs: So flavorful, fragrant, and useful, herbs need only be steps away from the kitchen. Whether grown in a garden or in convenient containers, our classes cover the basics of starting and maintaining fresh herbs all year round. Also covered is garden design, germinating seeds; how to select healthy plants from the nursery; and how to fertilize and care for your herbs. Preserving and Drying Herbs: After you have successfully raised your herbs and they are mature and well-leafed, harvesting can begin. This class covers the proper methods of picking and drying herbs, infusing them in oil, and freezing for optimum flavor. Natural Remedies From The Kitchen Cupboard: Nature has blessed us with an abundance of simple remedies, many of them in the spice cabinet, and many right outside our door. One sample is the tiny fennel seed. Just a few of them helps digest fatty fods, eliminate gas, settle nausea, and when nursing mothers chew them, sooth a colicky baby. Learn how to take control of your well-being by incorporating safe solutions from Nature’s bountiful medicine cabinet. Herb Classes are seasonal and will be announced on our website for the Santa Fe area in January, 2008. Private group sessions or other educational programs can also be arranged. Fee Schedule |
